Pete and Ted have been performing together for over 30 years and have recently initiated a new direction\, applying their musical approach to Christian songs of faith through the ages. \nThis concert will highlight widely different styles\, genres and time periods of Christian music\, while including elements of nostalgia and a few fun facts. Straight up\, with ice cream\, with pound cake\, with whipped cream?\nWhatever you choose\, you’ll find it at the First United Church of Christ’s Strawberry Festival in Quakertown. All are welcome at the festival on Saturday\, June 13\, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the church\, 151 4th Street in Quakertown. Admission is free\, and tickets for food and games are available for purchase. Event is rain or shine.\nHot dogs\, hamburgers\, barbecued beef and chicken\, and an array of side dishes are on the menu\, as desserts made by the congregation.\nVolunteers will serve fresh strawberries plain\, with ice cream\, and with pound cake – and don’t forget the whipped cream.\nThis year is especially festive\, as it marks the 75th anniversary of the event. Since it began in 1951\, festival organizers have contributed all the event’s proceeds to the church’s kids ministry and adult education programs.\nIt’s more than food\nAdults can check out a silent auction with new and gently used items with a wide range of opening bids\, and shop for strawberry and strawberry rhubarb pies available for sale. \nKids can enjoy games and win prizes. The Kelly Jax Band and Marian the Ventriloquist will each do two shows during the festival. DESCRIPTION:What: A super-fun team shopping challenge! \nWhen: June 20th\, 8:30 AM – 1 PM \nWhere: Home base will be at Faith Church in west Allentown\, but your team will spend time together shopping for bargains in the community. \nTeams: Eight teams with 6-8 individuals (ages 12+) per team. (Children under 12 are welcome\, but they will not count towards the 6-8 team member total.) We encourage you to invite your friends and family in order to form your own team! Having said that\, if you prefer to register as an individual\, you are welcome to do so! (In that case\, we will assign you to a team.) \nCost: Registration fee is $200 per team or $30 per person. The registration fee can be paid via PayPal or by check. Checks can be sent to Plesion\, P.O. Box 532\, Schnecksville\, PA 18078. All $200 will be returned to your team in the form of a Visa gift card on the day of the event. That will be your shopping money! \nWhat will happen: After a short greeting and time to go over the details\, each team will be provided with a wish list for a specific child\, sibling group\, or family. Your team will then have a total of 3 hours to plan\, shop\, and prepare your items to display to the other teams. The goal is to be super-shoppers so that you can fill as many of the requests on your wish list as possible with the $200 gift card. Team members can drive separately or carpool to stores but must all go to the same stores as their teammates (so you can’t go to one store while your teammates go to another store). Once in a store\, your team is allowed to split apart or stick together. \nLunch will be provided from 12:15 until 1 PM for all participants. \nPlease feel free to reach out with any questions! Containing a mix of hills and flats\, the course begins at Spring Creek Church of the Brethren on East Areba Avenue\, continues through the scenic Milton Hershey School campus\, and finishes back at the church. Start time is 8am with awards ceremony taking place at 9am. Cash prizes for top male and female with non-cash awards for age group winners. Cost is $30/adult\, $20/student\, going up $5 after June 7. Register before June 7 to guarantee your race shirt. Donations for our Personal Care Closet will be accepted that morning: Help us “Stuff the Truck” with paper towels and toilet paper and be entered into our gift card drawing! All proceeds benefit the programs of Love INC of Greater Hershey\, a registered 501(c)3 non-profit\, committed to helping individuals and families in need in the Hershey\, Hummelstown\, and Dauphin County portion of Elizabethtown.
